Correlation of liver cancer and metabolic syndrome

The risk of heart disease and diabetes could be improved, as evidenced by the risk factors of metabolic syndrome, and it also seems related to the incidence of liver cancer. Results from a large-scale study found that metabolic syndrome is associated with increased risk of developing hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (ICC).

The researchers found that metabolic syndrome was significantly more common in people who developed it revealed the results of the exposure data in the event the annual scientific meeting of the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR). Data changes that happen to be HCC (37.1%) and ICC (29.7%) than in the comparison group (17.1%, P <.0001). Even after multiple logistic regression analysis, metabolic syndrome
remained significantly associated with an increased risk of both HCC (OR, 2.13; P <.0001) and ICC (OR, 1.56; P <.0001),

With the increasing incidence of obesity, metabolic syndrome, and non-alcoholic fatty liver in the USA, then the study is an important study. This was disclosed by Lewis Roberts, PhD., Who is a professor of the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, because of previous individuals with metabolic syndrome are generally not considered high risk for this cancer.

Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) and NASH (nonalcoholic steatohepatitis) are two conditions associated with metabolic syndrome. With the increase in obesity and metabolic syndrome will increase the incidence of NAFLD and HCC and ICC.
So guard your health, avoid your life from heart disease and diabetes with a healthy lifestyle.
